Welcome to Moerlina Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten program is a thoughtful, child-centred introduction to the Moerlina approach to learning. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and WA Kindergarten Curriculum, we draw on progressive approaches including Reggio Emilia and Montessori. Children learn through play, exploration and long-term projects, supported by educators who take the time to understand who they are, what they wonder, and how they learn. Nature, specialist programs and real-world experiences enrich learning and build confidence, curiosity and independence.
A RICH LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Moerlina Kindergarten is a multi-age environment where 3 and 4 year-old children learn and play together, building confidence, independence, and relationships across age groups.
Learning unfolds through play, inquiry, and long-term projects that encourage children to explore ideas, make connections, and apply their learning in new contexts. Specialist programs in Music, Visual Arts, Dance and Drama, and Physical Education enrich the week, while excursions and visits from members of the community bring learning to life.
Regular time in nature is an essential part of the program. Through gardening, outdoor exploration, sensory experiences, and open-ended play, children develop curiosity, resilience, and a strong connection to the world around them.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Our Kindy is a multi-age environment where 3- and 4-year-old children learn and play together.
Children can commence our 3-year-old program if they turn 3 before 30 June. Our 4-year-old Kindy program is for children who turn 4 between 1 July of the previous year and 30 June of the current school year.
Session Times
Most 4-year-old children attend full days from Monday to Wednesday. In 2027, we will be offering 4 and 5 day options for interested Kindergarten families.
For younger children, half days can provide a gentle introduction to Kindy. As confidence and readiness grow, 3-year-olds can extend to full days.
